About a month ago Charlie crashed his bike and broke his collarbone. It was an obvious break and luckily I don't get grossed out by that stuff. He was a champion again in the emergency room and invited the entire staff over to our house for a playdate. Another big event was when Oliver sat by himself at the barbershop. What a big boy!

A trip to the farm
Every year we head to Cox farms for their annual Fall Festival. It really is one of the highlights of the season for us. There are tons of animals to see, lots of fun slides, a hayride and corn maze. It was extra fun this year because both of the boys could really enjoy it. As much as I try to get Oliver to smile for a picture it's nearly impossible. This is the best I could get :-)
Charles turns 5
It's hard to believe that my little Charlie is now 5 years old. He requested a policeman birthday party and we were, luckily, able to make it happen. We know a cop in Arlington and he and his partner were able to stop by. It was the highlight of the birthday party! Jeremy dressed up as a bad guy and the kids all sprayed him with silly string. That was the highlight for me :-) Noni, Papa, Eggie and Grandma were all able to come to town to celebrate with us. It was a really special family weekend.

1st week of school
Charlie had a really successful first week at school! We celebrated the end of the week by going to McDonalds for lunch. It was a real treat for the boys. Oliver is as busy as ever. I've been having to put him in my hiker backpack to keep them contain when we bring Charlie to school. It's pretty hilarious! Jeremy got out of work early on Friday and we were able to go try out this German beergarden in town for dinner. They had live music which was really fun. Charlie starts his soccer this weekend...that really makes me feel like fall has begun!

Back to school
Well Charlie's starting preschool again. He's going to a kindergarten prep program that's 5 days a week. Even though it's half day it still seems like a huge change! He got a new hairstyle for the new year and really loves it!
After school today I got a call from another little boy's mother. She wanted to tell me that her son Alexander spoke so highly of Charlie. He said that when they were riding bikes, he fell down and Charlie came and gave him a hand to help him up. Also when they were playing blocks, Alexander knocked his tower down by accident and was upset. Charlie gave him a hug and told him that it was okay, they could build it again. That's really what makes this mama proud.
Farwell summer
Well the summer has come and gone and I have not done any blogging. We spent most of August in Massachusetts with Noni & Grampy. That was a lot of fun! The boys were busy almost all of the time...beach, pool, backyard playing. It was like summer camp! We also got to meet our newest cousin Courtney who was born in July! We saw so many friends and family that I would overwhelm this site if I posted all the pics. Here are a few of my favorite snaps.

Family fun
This weekend was filled with family events. We decided to rent a row boat and take it out on the Potomac River with the two boys. It was fun until I ran out of snacks for Oliver.
We also went to see the Minion movie, which was Oliver's first movie experience. Charlie loved it. Oliver had to be taken out a couple times. I think we'll wait another year before we do that again.
We took the metro into the city tonight to celebrate Auntie Jessica's birthday. The boys had a great time!
Jamestown weekend
We headed to Jamestown, NY for the weekend to visit Grandma and the rest of the Laird family. The boys had a great time especially at Midway! They couldn't get enough of the rides. Jeremy and I got a night out with his cousin Chris and Chris' wife Rachel. Thank goodness for Auntie Jessica and Grandma!

4th of July fun
Auntie Rah Rah came for a visit over the holiday weekend and we had a blast. It was a rainy 4th, so we had our own parade at home! We also gave Auntie an early birthday party!
Father's Day
We had a great weekend celebrating Oliver's birthday with family. It was extra special because both dads were in town...and it was Father's Day weekend. We're lucky to have such amazing men in our lives. Jeremy got a new toy - a remote controlled plane, and the boys had the best time at its inaugural flight!
