The newest Eric Carle book...

"The very drunk caterpillar"

Life is Good

Our little cousin Gabriel turned 1 year old this past week. He stopped by so we could celebrate him :) The weather has been so nice, so popsicles have been in order. The boys have really been into "painting" lately, which is great as it keeps them occupied for more than 5 minutes!!!

Catch up

Well life has been pretty busy for the past couple of weeks, so here are a few highlights the happennings in our fam :) Cherry blossom season has begun in DC - it's just so beautiful! Jeremy and I ran the 10 miler and couldn't have had nicer weather or more beautiful blossoms! Soccer season is also back - and as you can see, Charlie is a happy guy! I still can't believe how big he is?! Oliver continues to grow - both in size and personality! He is a willful little boy! God help us! We had a lot of fun this weekend with friends and family - it was great weather so we were outside for most of it!

Big brother tricks

The weather was beautiful today. The boys thought it was summertime! Charlie got out his fireman water pack and Ollie was enthralled. I really can't believe I captured this moment. Charlie looks like he's saying, "Ollie, look...right...here."

Easter Sunday

This year we had no plans whatsoever for Easter Sunday. It was liberating in one way but felt kind of weird too. The kids were very excited to see what the Easter Bunny brought them...mostly for the candy. Charlie and I went to church together and he was such a well behaved boy. He did have to take a bathroom break during the homily...that kid loves to go number 2 in public restrooms. Odd I know.  Both of the boys didn't mind getting all dressed up like little southern gentleman. The only thing they were missing was the accent! We had an egg hunt in the backyard, played on the bouncy house and enjoyed the beautiful spring weather :-)

Easter Saturday

We had such a fun filled and busy Easter weekend that I have to do two separate blog posts. One for Saturday and one for Sunday :-) Cherry blossom season is finally kicking off in DC. To celebrate we went to see a Japanese performance downtown. It was a lot of interpretive dance and rhythmic drumming. Charlie enjoyed it but Oliver was a little frightened...until the end when he could try out the drums. After the show we went to Capitol Hill to meet Auntie Jess for lunch. That afternoon we were invited to an egg hunt by one of Charlie's classmates named Grace. It was a really fun time and Charlie had a blast with Grace. Oliver woke up from his nap a little bit grumpy, in case you can't tell from the pictures. He cheered up once Charlie gave him an M&M.

Yes Day

So today was our first annual Yes Day. That's a day when the parents say, 'Yes!' to anything the kid asks :-) we had some ground rules, but, honestly, we didn't need them. Charlie didn't ask for half as much as I thought he would. He wanted a chocolate croissant, a toy from the toy store (that happened to be his first gun), to go on a bike ride, and to eat out at our favorite Mexican place. At bedtime, when I asked him what he's grateful for, he said "a mom that takes care of me so well." I can only hope it's this easy (and beautifully innocent) next year...

April Fool's Day

We had a lot of fun this evening with the boys. Oliver is obsessed with Charlie's swim goggles and honestly thinks he can swim. So far he's just a bathtub swimmer. I put his hair in a bun post bath and he didn't mind one bit! Charlie thought it would be funny to play a joke on me and tell me that he peed on the floor in the bathroom. It's moments like these that I feel completely outnumbered by boys.

Charlie loves lace

This past week we had a playdate with one of Charlie's classmates named Vivian. We had the best time hanging out at her house with her and all of her siblings. While playing in the backyard Charlie's pants got wet. Vivian said, "come on inside you can wear a pair of mine!" Charlie was over the moon! I captured a picture of the two of them and can't help but post it :-) Vivian's younger brother Cooper is a month older than Oliver. The two of them are complete bruisers!
